NX2Apple · unofficial guide
NX2Apple for Mac & iPhone
Unofficial download and install guides for NX2Apple — a community macOS launcher that builds your own Switch dumps for Apple silicon. Packages stay on GitHub Releases. We never host keys, firmware, or games.
Not affiliated with Nintendo or the NX2Apple maintainers. We do not host installers, keys, firmware, or games — downloads go to GitHub Releases.
Install path
Download the macOS zip
Use Direct download for the current GitHub asset, or open release Assets if the filename changed. Prefer NX2Apple-macOS-arm64.zip on Apple silicon.
Unzip and right-click → Open
Extract locally, then open once from Finder with right-click → Open so Gatekeeper can allow the unsigned community build.
Finish the setup wizard
Let the app check Xcode and tools, add your own prod.keys, attach dumps, then Build for This Mac or iPhone / iPad.
Play from the library
Mac builds appear in the library with Play. iPhone builds finish with the on-screen sideload steps for your signing tool.
What NX2Apple is (and is not)
NX2Apple is a free community project that wraps the nxnative toolchain in a clickable macOS app. It is not a classic interpreter-style emulator in the same product category as Ryujinx desktop builds. The pipeline rewrites game programs for Apple silicon and draws with Metal so titles you already own can run natively on Mac and, after a device build, on recent iPhones and iPads. The launcher walks through unpacking dumps, applying the rewrite, translating shaders, and packing an output you start with Play, similar to a console home menu. Nothing in the download includes Nintendo game data, artwork, firmware, or cryptographic keys. You must supply dumps and prod.keys obtained legally from hardware you own. This guide site is independent: we are not Nintendo, not the NX2Apple maintainers, and not nxnative upstream. We only explain install and setup, and we send download clicks straight to GitHub Releases without mirroring binaries.
What you need before downloading
Plan on an Apple silicon Mac. The published launcher zip is arm64. You can open the app on macOS 13 or later, but building games still needs Xcode with the iOS SDK. Some NVN titles are picky about Xcode generation; when Releases or the README name a specific build, prefer Apple developer downloads over whatever the Mac App Store auto-updated to. Disk space matters because dumps, shader caches, and build output can be large. For iPhone play you also need a recent device, a sideload method, and enough free storage for romfs data. Bring your own NSP or XCI dumps and prod.keys. The same keys typically open every retail title you dumped. This site will never ask you to upload keys or game files, and emails that contain them are deleted unread.
- Apple silicon Mac — required for the GUI launcher and for builds
- Xcode + iOS SDK when you intend to build, not only browse an empty library
- Your own dumps and prod.keys — never emailed to support@nx2apple.online
- Optional sideload tool for iPhone / iPad after a successful device build
Direct download without compiling
Normal players do not compile from source and do not need Homebrew or a manual Python install for day-to-day use. The app ships many tools itself; it may still install .NET SDK 10 when required. The Direct download button uses GitHub latest/download, which redirects to the current release asset. If that request fails, open the Releases page and pick Assets yourself — the same recovery pattern other independent install guides use when a live asset listing is unavailable. Alternate asset names such as NS-Port-Builder-macOS-arm64.zip appear on some tags; the release body is the source of truth. Source archives and engine zips are not the guided installer path unless a release note says otherwise. After install, prefer in-app Check for updates when Releases announce a required version so older engine fetch paths do not strand you with Repository: not found errors.
Limits, updates, and compliance
Only games with a profile build. Outside titles need bring-up work documented upstream. Large iPhone titles may need Increased Memory Limit entitlements depending on your sideload tool. Keep the launcher current when release notes mark a breaking change. Personal backup and circumvention rules differ by country. You are responsible for knowing the law where you live. Never distribute dumps, keys, firmware, or the packages you build. If you enjoy a game, buy it from legitimate storefronts. This independent guide does not provide a ROM search, key database, or firmware mirror.
- Update when Releases mark a required version
- Report app bugs on GitHub with diagnostics — never attach keys or dumps
- Compare NX2Apple vs nxnative if you need GUI versus CLI workflows
This site is not official. We do not host installers, prod.keys, firmware, or game dumps. Downloads go to GitHub Releases. Bring your own legally obtained dumps and keys.
